Curiosity
How do we playfully imagine together?
How curious are you?
How else can I imagine this?
Curiosity is a joyful experience of questioning everything.
“The function of art is to do more than tell it like it is - it’s to imagine what is possible.” - bell hooks, Outlaw Culture
Challenge the Spin Doctors
The Spin Doctors attempt to enlighten others, but indoctrinate and control our mental environment.
They are an anti-imagination force, proclaiming their right to indoctrinate and enlighten in the public interest. They offer preordained magic solutions, convincing others there is no need for curiosity. They can socially engineer consensus, convince us we can innovate without risk, obscure difficulties to sell the dream and promote career pathways into non-existing industries.
"It is a miracle that curiosity survives formal education." - Albert Einstein
Stifling curiosity supports conformity and complicity. People who imagine alternatives are often silenced in authoritarian societies, which develop when we collectively accept that culture is a fixed entity, and not a contested space we are all constantly crafting. They don’t need to burn the books if there are no courageous writers.
